Clonakilty Camogie

It's all systems go as all teams are now up and running for 2013. The much awaited start of the U8s & U10s training finally arrived on Tues 19th Feb. 2012  saw record numbers join up for Camogie at this age level but last years numbers have been well surpassed as almost 60 girls converged on The Convent Hall. The noise level for the hour was unbelievable. The Club is very grateful to all the mentors/trainers who turned up and put the girls through their paces. We would appeal to all parents and anyone else who would like to come along and give a hand as the ideal situation would be to have about 8 girls per mentor/trainer. This would ensure that the girls would get more time for individual coaching and would be of great benefit going forward. The current training schedule is outlined below but this is likely to change in a few weeks time when we all hope to move onto the playing pitches.

Senior               Fridays 7>8. (Astro Pitch)

U16/U18           Tuesday 7>8. (Ball Ally)

U14                  Wednesday 5.30>6.30. (Ball Ally)

U12                  Friday 5>6. (Ball Ally)

U8/U10             Tuesday 6>7. (Convent Hall) near Astro Turf.

Under 14 Camogie League

The girls made a return trip to play St. Finbarrs in the League on Thur 21st. This rematch was ordered by the Juvenile Board following St. Finbarrs playing A players on the origional fixture. It was a far different story on this occasion however as the Clon girls turned the result around to come away with a great win on the scoreline Clon 3-8 to St. Finbarrs 1-3. Games played in recent weeks and full attendance at training meant that St. Finbarrs faced a transformed Clonakilty outfit. Again the turnout for this game was fantastic as 24 travelled. This win means that the girls have qualified for the play-off of the League and their opponents are Bride Rovers. As this is the first meeting of the sides, little is known of Bride Rovers, but the girls are playing well and should have no fear heading into this game. Also it is a home game for Clon and is provisionally fixed for Fri 29th. Well done girls and your mentors.
