Clonakilty Senior Ladies retained their 6th West Cork title with a comfortable win over near neighbours Rosscarbery in the final played at Ahamilla on Sunday 16/11/2014. Rosscarbery started the better and led 1-03 to 0-01 after 15 minutes with Clon struggling to break down a stubborn Ross defence. However goals from Juanita Brennan and Rosemarie Dullea left Clon leading at half time 2-03 to 1-04. The second half saw Clon take control in most sectors with the defence magnificent, none more so than the tigerish Rebecca McAree at corner back. With the defence on top Clon’s link up play was excellent with the middle diamond of Sinead O’Neill, Louise Collins, Claire and Aine O’Leary creating opportunities for the forward line who were not found wanting. Two goals from Ciara Ryan and another from the outstanding Rosemarie Dullea along with points from Ailbhe Dowling and Anna O’Hea left Clon comfortable winners on a final score of 5-11 to 2-05. Afterwards Clon captain Carol-Anne O’Donovan accepted the West Cork trophy to the delight of the home following. All the club officers, committee members, players and mentors would like to take this opportunity to wish Carol-Anne every good luck for her upcoming wedding. She is a great club person, a fantastic leader on the pitch and everyone wishes herself and Bernard a great day on December 5th and a wonderful life together.
